Come out and join us  at the Petawawa Research Forest (PRF) in Chalk River, Ontario as we learn how research and forest management activities going on at the PRF can be applied by woodlot owners!  This event will take place in the woods, in a variety of forest habitats.  Ms. Katalijn MacAfee (Canadian Forestry Service) will present historic research plots PSP 1 and 2, that compare managed versus unmanaged forest since 1918.  Dr. Trevor Jones (Ont. Ministry of Natural Resources & Forestry) will show the Biomass Project: how poor, small, and undesirable trees can be economically harvested and help prepare a site for the next crop of white pines.  Tom Boudreau (Ottawa Valley Forest) will discuss managing a sugarbush.  Al Stinson (Canadian Institute of Forestry) will demonstrate which trees can be thinned out in red pine plantations. This event is organized by the Renfrew Chapter of the Ontario Woodlot Association and volunteers.  The entrance fee for this event is $5, and lunch will be available for purchase on site. We have a goal of providing forestry information and advice to woodlot owners, but we invite any and all who are interested to come out and enjoy the forest at a great time of year. Hope to see you there!
